Peace and Harmony House: FT Bilingual Drug & Alcohol Counselor
Job Summary: As an FT Bilingual Drug and Alcohol Counselor, you will be responsible for providing counseling and support services to adults struggling with substance abuse issues. You will work in outpatient settings, offering individual and group therapy sessions to help clients overcome addiction, develop coping mechanisms, and facilitate their recovery journey. Your role involves assessment, treatment planning, counseling, and collaboration with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care for clients.

Monday 11:30am-8:00pm
Tuesday 9:00am-5:30pm
Wednesday 11:30am-8:00pm
Thursday 9:00am-5:30pm
Friday 8:00am-4:30pm
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Utilizes the DDAP ASAM diagnostic criteria to determine the appropriate level of care.
● Works within a client-centered team framework to ensure that clients are connected to services of choice, with emphasis on individualism, strengths, and community involvement.
● Manages caseload of clients providing individual, group, family, and/or couples therapy sessions, as needed.
● Provides and oversees the provision of accurate, strength-based, and culturally competent assessments of clients within prescribed timeframes and throughout the client’s service involvement.
● Provides supportive and follow up services as needed. This may include intervening directly to identify, prevent or deal with crisis situations, using crisis intervention techniques including de-escalation, conflict resolution, individual and group strategies.
● Produces participant driven, strengths-based plan for individual’s treatment goals.
● Presents and works collaboratively with other team members, supervisor, director, and medical personnel, including presenting cases.
● Provides and responsible for timely, accurate, and professional documentation both written and electronic of all service components as per licensing regulations, contractual requirements, and agency policies.
● Required to comply with all licensing regulations, contractual requirements, accreditation standards, and agency policies and procedures related to behavior, supports, documentation, and management.
● With supervision, takes responsibility for own learning and professional development including required 25 hours of training per all licensing regulations.
● Attend all meetings, supervisions and trainings as required including all DDAP required training and any training deemed necessary by Clinical Supervisor.
● Any other duties assigned at the discretion of management.
Key Responsibilities:
Assessment and Evaluation:
Conduct comprehensive assessments to determine the severity and nature of clients' substance abuse problems.
Evaluate clients' mental health status, medical history, and social support systems to develop personalized treatment plans.
Treatment Planning:
Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessment findings and clients' goals.
Collaborate with clients to set realistic and achievable objectives for recovery.
Modify treatment plans as needed based on clients' progress and changing needs.
Counseling and Therapy:
Provide evidence-based counseling and therapy to clients, utilizing techniques such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and relapse prevention strategies.
Conduct individual therapy sessions to address underlying issues contributing to substance abuse and promote positive behavioral changes.
Facilitate group therapy sessions to foster peer support, sharing of experiences, and skill-building.
Education and Support:
Educate clients and their families about the nature of addiction, recovery process, and available resources.
Offer guidance and support to clients in developing healthy coping mechanisms and lifestyle changes.
Provide referrals to additional support services, such as medical care, vocational training, or housing assistance.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records, including assessment notes, treatment plans, progress reports, and discharge summaries.
Ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards regarding confidentiality and record-keeping practices.
Collaboration and Referral:
Coordinate care with other healthcare professionals, including psychiatrists, physicians, and social workers, to address clients' holistic needs.
Collaborate with community agencies and organizations to facilitate access to additional support services and resources for clients.

Education and/or Experience:
A minimum of a bachelor’s degree REQUIRED in a related field approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Drug and Alcohol Counseling (i.e. Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, etc.). Be in the possession of a valid PCB Certification in a counseling discipline (i.e. CADC, CAADC, AAC) or ability to obtain certification within 1yr of hire.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Pennsylvania Certification Board (PCB) approved certifications or ability to obtain within 1yr of hire required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
