This full‑time RN role operates on rotating shifts and provides high‑quality, compassionate care to patients throughout labor, delivery, and immediate postpartum recovery.
As a Clinical Nurse II, you function as a full partner on the healthcare team, practicing safely and independently within the organization’s professional practice model. You utilize the nursing process to deliver individualized care for patients across the reproductive lifespan and collaborate closely with the interprofessional team to support healthy, safe birth experiences.
You demonstrate strong clinical judgment, seek opportunities for continuous learning, and understand how nursing practice supports Penn Medicine’s mission, vision, and standards of care. The role requires adherence to all regulatory and accreditation guidelines.
The Clinical Nurse II demonstrates competence across the following domains:
Uses data and quality improvement methods to identify problems and opportunities that enhance safety, efficiency, and effectiveness in obstetric care.
Applies current evidence, clinical expertise, and patient preferences to support optimal maternal and neonatal outcomes.
Engages in collaborative, systems‑based thinking; participates in evidence‑based decision making; and contributes to improvements within a complex Labor & Delivery environment.
Partners with patients, partners, and families during childbirth, ensuring care is respectful, compassionate, and aligned with their preferences and values.
Demonstrates lifelong learning, ethical practice, and participation in professional organizations and community outreach.
Minimizes risk to mothers, infants, families, and colleagues by following safety protocols and supporting system-level safety practices.
Uses obstetric monitoring systems, EHRs, and other technology to provide accurate, timely communication and clinical decision support.
Collaborates effectively with obstetricians, midwives, anesthesiologists, neonatal teams, and support staff to ensure safe, high‑quality outcomes.
