Full-Time Third Grade ELA & Social Studies Teacher

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:45 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

About St. Sava Academy

Now in our 24th year, we serve over 200 students in a family-like, close-knit community grounded in the Orthodox Christian tradition and cultural heritage. Our small class sizes, collaborative culture, and warm atmosphere make St. Sava a truly special place to teach and learn.

We are seeking a full-time Third Grade ELA & Social Studies Teacher who will also support schoolwide operations through recess/lunch supervision and provide morning instructional support in upper-elementary math. This role is ideal for someone who values strong relationships, teamwork, and whole-child education.

About the Position

This full-time role combines classroom instruction with meaningful contributions to the school day that directly support student well-being.

Teaching Responsibilities (Afternoons)

  • Teach 3rd Grade English Language Arts
  • Teach 3rd Grade Social Studies
  • Plan engaging, standards-aligned lessons that promote literacy, critical thinking, and classroom discussion
  • Assess and monitor student progress, providing feedback that supports growth
  • Build strong, positive partnerships with students and families

Recess & Lunch Supervision

At St. Sava, we believe outdoor play is essential for healthy development. This role includes:

  • Daily recess and lunch supervision
  • Ensuring safety, positive peer interactions, and smooth transitions
  • Helping maintain a consistent, predictable routine during these important parts of the day

Morning Instructional Support (Grades 4 & 5 Math)

  • Support small groups and individual students during math instruction
  • Work collaboratively with our upper-elementary math teacher
  • Reinforce foundational skills and help students build confidence

Who We’re Looking For

We are looking for a warm, organized, mission-aligned educator who brings both skill and heart to their work. Ideal candidates will have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree (required); teaching license preferred
  • Experience teaching or supporting elementary students
  • Strong communication and classroom-management skills
  • A collaborative spirit and willingness to support colleagues
  • Flexibility, reliability, and enthusiasm for working in a close-knit school community
  • Comfort supervising students outdoors in all seasons
