FULL TIME ASSOCIATE ATTORNEY (TRUSTS & ESTATE LITIGATION)

Gendelman Klimas Edwards, Ltd. is a progressive, modern, technologically advanced law firm with a casual, interactive, and friendly environment.

We are a small and growing, with offices in Denver and in the mountains, seeking a full-time Trusts & Estate Litigation Associate Attorney to work in our collegial, friendly, and laid-back environment. Our work format is hybrid, and this role would require two days in person at our Denver office per week. This candidate’s caseload will consist of contested trust and estates, including but not limited to contested guardianships, conservatorships, estate administration, and probate litigation.

The ideal candidate will have no less than three years of experience in Colorado trust and estate litigation, will be an intrinsically motivated self-starter, and able to thrive in a high-volume law practice. Our billing requirement for associate attorneys is 1,500 hours per year, evaluated on a quarterly basis. Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Juris Doctor from an ABA Accredited law school
  • Licensed to practice law in the State of Colorado, for no less than two years
  • No less than three years of experience in Colorado trusts and estate litigation
  • Exceptionally detail oriented
  • Strong commitment to professionalism and legal ethics
  • Self-motivated and quick-learner
  • Passion for advocacy and justice
  • Eligible for employment in the United States

Job Duties

  • Manage high-volume caseload, with immediate responsibility and increased independence
  • Assist partners, senior associates, and associates with existing caseloads with contested trust and estate caseloads
  • Make court appearances as needed
  • Draft motions and pleadings, conduct discovery, etc.
  • Attend depositions as needed
  • Facilitate client meetings and consultations
  • Perform legal research
  • Attend mediations and engage in other dispute resolution processes
  • Delegate and supervise work to paralegals and other staff members
  • Adhere to billing standards and conventions

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • Familiarity with Clio or another practice management software/platform
  • Experience with finance, tax, and/or banking
  • Comfort working with diverse populations across varying cultural backgrounds
  • Bilingual in Spanish/English

Compensation: Our good faith total compensation estimate for this position within the first year is between $85,000 and $120,000 per year, depending on experience, qualifications, and self-generated business/originations. Total compensation will consist of base pay, commissions, incentives, and bonus.

This position is exempt under the FLSA and is not eligible for overtime pay.

Location:

This position is hybrid, requiring the candidate to work in-office two days per week, at our Denver office located in Denver, CO 80203. Standard working hours will be 8:30AM to 5:00pm, Monday through Friday. The in-office component of this position is an essential function of the position. This position is hybrid; this is not a remote position.
