We are looking for an experienced barista to join our new team. Our mission at Kohiko is to bring Japanese Hospitality to the Houston coffee community while serving high-quality speciality coffee.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and serve a variety of coffee drinks & teas to the Kohiko standard and recipes
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including cleaning equipment and utensils
- Take customer orders accurately and efficiently using a cash register or POS system
- Provide friendly and attentive customer service to enhance the overall experience
- Handle food items such as pastries or light snacks as needed
- Make homemade syrups, and more preparation duties
- Additional duties may be required
Qualifications:
- 2+ years working as a barista focused on hospitality & friendly warm service
- Knowledge of specialty coffee and experience in specialty coffee
- Guest-centric attitude and perspective
- Experience using POS systems
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to engage with guests in a hospitable manner
- Food Handler's Certification & knowledge of food safety practices and procedures
- Able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of hospitality and care to specialty craft coffees
- Familiarity with executing several specialty coffee recipes
- Experienced with specialty coffee pour overs, milk textures, and flavor profiles

- Pay starts is $10/hr plus tips (most baristas are averaging $18.50 - $21 per hour including tips)
