Work Schedule: Monday - Friday: 5:00am -1:30pm
Hours per Week/Year: 40 hours per week, 2080 hours per year

Position Overview
The Delivery Driver position is responsible for modeling excellent customer service through facilitating the smooth transport of items from one branch to another via delivery truck and sorting items on the dock.
Essential Functions
  • Delivery driving
    • Transports library materials to branch locations throughout the library system via a company truck
    • Makes unscheduled deliveries and pick-ups
    • Picks up discarded boxes from branches
  • Sorting
    • Sorts library materials and related items on the dock
    • Loads and unloads delivery trucks
    • Unloads freight from trucks
Non-essential Functions
  • Warehousing
    • Determines suitability of discarded and donated books and other related materials
    • Trains employees how to sort discarded books and pack appropriately
    • Helps sort surplus and/ or donated materials and prepares them for sale or discard
Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma/HiSet/GED Completion Required
  • Warehouse/Production environment experience Preferred
  • Experience driving box trucks Preferred
  • Familiarity with Jackson, Clay, and Platte County directions and locations preferred

Additionally, this position requires:
  • Job Knowledge
    • Able to operate a box delivery truck, hand trucks, pallet jacks, and other necessary equipment safely and effectively.
  • Technology including specific applications, hardware, and coding languages
    • Sufficient digital literacy to use Office 365 applications, primarily Outlook for email and to review personnel documents and time card information online
    • Contributes positively to the efforts of the library
    • Negotiates for a win-win solution

Age Requirement:
Must be at least 18 years of age
MVR Requirement
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license for use in carrying out the duties of this position including transportation of materials and equipment
  • Possesses the ability to drive MCPL vehicle according to company policy
Work Environment
  • (Indoor/Outdoor) Works both indoors and outdoors and must have considerable tolerance for weather conditions, dust, mold, scents, allergens, and communicable diseases which enable the employee to work outside at a facility, handle construction and library materials, work in older buildings and on jobsites, and interact with coworkers and the public.
  • Use of special equipment, safety equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE), high noise level, shared office space
