Job Overview
A private, high-profile family is seeking a seasoned, career nanny/family assistant to join their home in a long-term role. This position is ideal for a professional nanny who brings a calm, confident presence and can seamlessly balance attentive, developmentally appropriate childcare with thoughtful household support. The ideal candidate is warm, intuitive, and highly organized, with the ability to anticipate needs, take initiative, and work collaboratively alongside a stay-at-home parent. Discretion, professionalism, and emotional intelligence are essential in this role, as the family values privacy and a harmonious home environment. Schedule
- Monday–Thursday: 1:00pm–8:30pm
- One additional 5+ hour shift : Friday, Saturday, or Sunday (scheduled at least 2 weeks in advance)
- Flexibility required for occasional schedule changes based on family needs
Duties
- School pick-ups and transportation to/from activities
- Plan and engage in age-appropriate activities and outings
- Support social development (playdates, community activities)
- Manage afternoon and evening routines, including dinner, bath and bedtime
- Prepare children’s meals and pack lunches/snacks
- Maintain a calm, structured, and nurturing environment
- Children’s laundry and organization of clothing/toys
- Light household support (dishes, tidying, meal prep, end-of-day reset, etc)
- Assist with household tasks while children are at school or with a parent at other activities
- Work collaboratively with a stay at home parent
- Communicate updates and maintain consistency in routines
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional nanny experience (career nanny preferred)
- Experience with toddlers and preschool-aged children
- Prior experience in r high-profile homes preferred but not required
- Warm, engaging, and developmentally focused caregiving style
- Organized, proactive, and able to take initiative
- Able to balance childcare and light household support (meal prep, laundry, etc)
- Comfortable working alongside a stay at home parent
- Comfortable working in a home with a dog
- Familiar with the Birmingham and greater Metro area
- Strong communication skills and professional demeanor
- Flexible and adaptable with scheduling and comfortable taking on more hours when needed, especially in the fall and winter
- High level of discretion and respect for privacy, and willing to sign an NDA
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for on the job driving
- CPR/First Aid certified (or willing to obtain)
Compensation
- $30-35/hr gross
- Guaranteed hours/pay for 35 hours per week
- 10 days PTO of nanny's choice
- 5 paid sick days per year
- Mileage reimbursement for on the job driving

Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
