Full-time Nanny / Family Assistant - 3+ years of experience REQUIRED

Full-Time Nanny OR Family Assistant– Short Hills, NJ

A warm and welcoming family in Short Hills, NJ is seeking a full-time nanny OR family assistant for a long-term position, beginning as soon as the right fit is found. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:45 AM to 6:00 PM, with the first few weeks potentially requiring an earlier start time (approximately 7:00–7:30 AM) to support a smooth transition. The role guarantees 51.25 hours per week, with overtime, paid sick leave, personal days, and paid holidays included. Compensation ranges from $30–$35/hour.

The family has an 8-month-old and a 4-year-old who attends full-time school. The primary focus during the day will be the baby, providing attentive and nurturing care including formula and solids, diapering, naps, and age-appropriate play. The nanny will plan and lead engaging developmental activities such as reading, sensory play, outdoor walks, and playdates, while following the baby’s cues for sleep and feeding in a calm and safe environment. The candidate should also be comfortable caring for both children when needed, including school breaks or late afternoon transitions. Responsibilities include preparing children’s meals and snacks, tidying kitchen and play areas after use, maintaining organization of child-related spaces (toy rotation, children’s laundry, restocking baby supplies), and being open to outings such as parks, libraries, classes, or playdates. The family is equally comfortable with a nanny who prefers creating enriching activities at home; however, reliable transportation is required for potential doctor’s appointments or situations where driving the children is necessary.

If the role expands into a family assistant structure, additional responsibilities may include grocery shopping (in-person or online ordering), running errands (returns, dry cleaning, pharmacy), family laundry, cooking meals for the entire family, and assisting with light household organization and daily resets in common areas.

The ideal candidate has at least three years of paid experience caring for infants and school-aged children. Previous family assistant experience is required for those applying under the expanded role. Applicants must have a valid driver’s license, clean driving record, reliable transportation, and be legally authorized to work in the U.S. CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain) is required. The nanny must be a non-smoker, up to date on Tdap, MMR, and flu vaccinations, and proactive when children are experiencing respiratory symptoms. The RSV vaccine is a plus but not required. Strong communication skills and comfort collaborating with parents are essential for this position.
