Overview
DesignOvation Strategies, LLC is hiring for a full-time, on-site Senior Graphic Designer responsible for leading the design, layout, and production of high-visibility publications, including the Annual Reports to Congress, Objectives Reports, and associated materials. This individual ensures deliverables are produced with precision, on schedule, and in compliance with agency branding, Section 508 accessibility, and federal publishing standards.
Responsibilities
- Design & Layout: Develop, format, and finalize large-scale publications (up to 500+ pages) using provided templates and agency brand guidelines.
- Production Management: Prepare proofs, print-ready files, and web-optimized PDFs; oversee rapid turnaround cycles during surge production periods.
- Data Visualization: Convert complex datasets into charts, tables, figures, and infographics that enhance clarity and readability.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure all deliverables are error-free, meet accessibility standards (Section 508 compliance), and align with agency specifications.
- Client Collaboration: Serve as the primary design liaison with agency staff; provide regular status updates via agency-approved project management tools.
- Surge Support: Lead design efforts during critical December and June production windows, ensuring availability outside normal business hours (nights, weekends, and holidays) as required.
- Printing Oversight: Coordinate with subcontractors/vendors to produce and deliver bound advance copies of agency reports to Congress.
Required Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of professional design experience, including large-scale publication design for federal agencies or comparable organizations.
Required Technical Skills:
- Expert proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat).
- Skilled in Microsoft Word, Excel, and digital publishing tools.
- Familiarity with secure file transfer protocols (FIPS/FedRAMP-approved).
Required Knowledge Requirements:
- Working knowledge of Section 508 accessibility standards.
- Experience with branding consistency, document archiving, and digital content design.
Required Soft Skills:
- Strong project management skills, with ability to manage concurrent deliverables under tight deadlines.
- Exceptional communication and customer service, including proactive collaboration with government clients.
- Ability to work collaboratively with the client and other team members (team chemistry is of great importance)
- Capable of switching between tasks and activities on a daily basis, based on priorities
- Quick learner, self-starter, possesses a great attitude
- Excellent customer service skills
- Excellent writing skills with attention to detail
- Experience preparing short work products (spreadsheets, talking points, process flows, standard operating procedures, PowerPoint slides, etc.)
Preferred Experience
- Prior experience supporting federal reporting or congressional publication design.
- Portfolio demonstrating high-quality publication work with charts, infographics, and multi-hundred-page documents.
- Experience managing surge workloads and high-pressure turnaround cycles.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
