Fundraising Strategy Consultant

Project ECHO has an exciting opportunity for a new Fundraising Strategy Consultant to join our Corporate & Foundation Relations Team! This position will be critical to Project ECHO’s fundraising efforts.

As the Fundraising Strategy Consultant, you’ll be responsible for:

• Establishing and maintaining collaborative working relationships with the UNM Foundation, development colleagues, board members, and other constituents to maximize Project ECHO’s total gift revenue, plan solicitation strategies, and leverage joint solicitation efforts.
• Interacting with Project ECHO senior management and administrators to coordinate fundraising activities in support of potential prospects. Meeting regularly with senior management to stay abreast of ECHO fundraising priorities and regularly sharing status updates around potential prospects.
• Researching, writing, editing, and overseeing the preparation of persuasive, accurate, and grammatically correct solicitations, proposals, reports, correspondence, and other development-related communication materials.
• Crafting outreach communications informed by prospect research and looking for ways to engage both current and potential funders.
• Coordinating with the Project ECHO Communications Team to develop outreach collateral for potential prospects, including 2-pagers focused on disease areas, geographies, and strategic initiatives.
• Identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major gift donors, grant funders, and prospects including individuals, corporations, and/or foundations through visits and other forms of direct personal contact.
• Performing research and generating potential funding prospects to determine alignment and generate fundraising leads. Coordinating with the UNM Foundation for prospect research, as needed.
• Creating outreach strategy informed by prospect research and alignment.
• Stewarding funding relationships throughout the lifecycle of the grantmaking process, from initial relationship building, through the grant proposal process, to reporting and communicating with the funders, including the renewal process.
• Assisting and/or leading in short- and long-range strategic planning activities to create and implement fundraising goals and objectives.
• Conducting research analysis on donor trends, philanthropic priorities, and competitor fundraising strategies to inform planning. Joining strategic planning sessions with leadership, board members, and development staff to align on fundraising goals.
• With the team, developing multi-year fundraising roadmaps that outline revenue targets, campaign priorities, and resource needs. Adjusting strategies as needed based on results, donor feedback, and shifts in the external environment.
• Working with the Grants Team and Communications Team in designing creative and strategic communications in support of individual donors and corporate and foundation funders.
• Working with the Communications Team to support the development of ECHO’s external branding strategy, including traditional media relations, digital and social media, speaking engagements, and other opportunities.
• Collaborating with the UNM Foundation and ECHO leadership to ensure alignment of strategy and execution.
• Setting up and attending regular check-ins with funders and working with the Programs teams. Communicating progress and deliverables for each grant.
• Preparing tailored communications, including progress reports, impact stories, and renewal requests.
• Tracking funder engagement activities and follow-up tasks in Salesforce to ensure timely responses and stewardship.
• Coordinating internal input from program and finance teams to provide accurate grant updates.
• Identifying opportunities to deepen partnerships and align funder interests with organizational priorities.
