Eaton’s IS AER FED division is currently seeking a Furnace Technician - 3rd Shift to join our team in Beltsville, MD!
The core hours are 11 pm - 7:30 am.
The hourly rate for this position is $38.00 per hour + 10% shift premium.

The Industrial Vacuum Furnace Maintenance Technician is responsible for inspecting, servicing, and repairing industrial vacuum furnace systems used for heat treating materials in order to ensure optimal performance and minimal downtime in order to support production goals.
In this role, you will:

Diagnose and repair, under minimal supervision, complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues associated with industrial vacuum furnaces and ovens across all facilities.

Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on industrial vacuum furnaces, ovens, and related equipment to prevent breakdowns and ensure optimal functionality.

Identify and source parts, supplies, and repair items as necessary. Perform evaluations of alternatives to improve cost and / or reliability of equipment.

Collaborate with production, engineering, and maintenance teams to coordinate furnace and oven repairs and upgrades, minimizing production disruptions.

Document maintenance procedures, repairs, and system performance for compliance and operational records.

Supervise and train junior maintenance staff on best practices when applicable.

Follow all safety related policies, rules, regulations, technical instructions, and guidelines.
Required (Basic) Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution.

Minimum of 2 years of industrial vacuum furnace and oven maintenance experience.

Minimum of 5 years of industrial maintenance experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

5+ years of industrial vacuum furnace and oven maintenance experience.
- Familiarity with vacuum furnace systems (e.g. Vac Aero, Ispen, Abar).

Understands electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. Can analyze the problem, synthesize alternative solutions, and perform repairs.

Complies with all national and local safety and environmental standards, guidelines and policies e.g. ISO14001.

Understanding of how to use precision gauging instruments.

Ability to proactively work with other team members under limited supervision.

Ability to comprehend and follow technical standards and maintenance procedures. Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.

Knowledge of operating lift truck, material handling equipment, man lifts and hand tools.

Proven ability to run a machine with multiple settings or specifications

Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and drawings.

Ability to diagnose issues across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.

Ability to setup and operate multiple machining and welding operations in order to make or repair parts.
