Description of Work

SALARY RANGE: $43,614.00 - $64,851.00

The GAL Program Assistant provides administrative support for Judicial District 28/30 serving Stanly, Union, and Montgomery counties.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

This position is responsible for all client files, court documents, other reports and data base entry of child clients represented by the program. Deadlines must be met for data entry of confidential information; gathering and creating statistical reports; collecting and submitting court reports; schedule court cases and sets up meetings for staff and GAL advocates.

Other duties include:

  • Assist with other GAL staff in the recruitment and training of GAL advocates

  • Responsible for creating, publishing and maintaining a PR database for on-going recruitment duties

  • Follows GAL protocol in processing volunteer candidates' applications and adhere to state and national screening requirements

  • Handles all office correspondence and maintains confidentiality

Must be proficient in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and other Microsoft Office products. Familiarity with social media, digital marketing and other public relations outlets is desired. This position is in Union County but will require travel to Montgomery, and Stanly counties as needed.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES / COMPETENCIES:

Knowledge of: office practices and procedures to organize and maintain the office; word processing and spreadsheet and/or data base to prepare statistical reports; the Guardian ad Litem program as to is purpose, objectives and responsibilities to communicate the program to volunteers, the public, staff, and other professional personnel.

Skills in: Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.

Ability to: apply specific rules and regulations to process and maintain records and documents; gather and report statistical information; transcribe material into correct form and to use proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling; schedule and coordinate a variety of appointments and meetings; listen with tact and diplomacy; and effectively use computer software available to the office.

Minimum Education and Experience

Associate degree in business administration and one (1) year of responsible administrative office experience or high school (GED) graduate plus three (3) years of administrative office experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
