About the Role

The Garnishment Manager is responsible for the end-to-end administration of employee wage garnishments, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations while maintaining accuracy, timeliness, and confidentiality. This role serves as a key liaison between internal teams, external agencies, and third-party vendors, providing subject matter expertise and driving operational excellence in garnishment processing.

Key Responsibilities

Garnishment Processing & Compliance

  • Oversee the accurate processing of all wage garnishments, including tax levies, child support, bankruptcies, student loans, and writs
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal and state laws and regulations
  • Interpret and administer complex garnishment orders and legal documentation
  • Prepare and submit timely responses to garnishment notices and court orders

Vendor & Stakeholder Management

  • Manage and support third-party wage attachment vendor relationships
  • Partner with Legal, HR, registered agents, and government agencies to ensure compliance and issue resolution

Reporting, Recordkeeping & Audit Support

  • Maintain accurate and compliant records of all garnishment activity
  • Prepare reports and documentation to support audits and regulatory requirements

Inquiry Resolution & Case Management

  • Respond to inquiries from employees, courts, attorneys, and creditors
  • Investigate discrepancies and resolve issues in a timely and professional manner

Subject Matter Expertise & Process Improvement

  • Serve as the internal expert on garnishment processes and compliance requirements
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy

What You Bring

  • 5+ years of experience in payroll, garnishments, or compliance-related roles
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state wage garnishment laws and regulations
  • Experience working with third-party payroll or garnishment vendors
  • Familiarity with Workday or similar HR/payroll systems preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • High level of discretion and ability to handle confidential information
  • Excellent organizational, multitasking, and prioritization skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across multiple levels of the organization
