Riverside Medical Group is seeking a full time Board Certified/Board Eligible Gastroenterologist to help expand our Gastroenterology Hospitalist service line in Newport News, Virginia.
Gastroenterology Hospitalist Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to join a collaborative and growing team in a well-established health system.
Position Highlights:
- GI Hospitalist role with 7 days on / 7 days off schedule (12-hour shifts)
- ERCP skills preferred
- Mix of inpatient consults, rounding, and procedures
- Dedicated inpatient endoscopy suite
- Collaborative team including 3 hospitalists, 10 outpatient physicians, and 2 advanced procedural physicians
- Advanced practice provider support
- Strong primary care referral base
- Epic electronic health record system
- Opportunity to teach FM, IM, and EM residents if desired
- Competitive base compensation with top end earning potential

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide inpatient gastroenterology consultations and manage acute GI conditions
- Perform diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures, including colonoscopy and upper endoscopy
- Participate in inpatient rounding and collaborate with hospitalists and specialists
- Interpret diagnostic tests and develop treatment plans
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the EHR
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and multidisciplinary care planning
- Engage in teaching opportunities with residents and medical students, if desired
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards
Qualifications:
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Gastroenterology
- Licensed Medical Doctor in the State of Virginia
- Current DEA certification
