Key ResponsibilitiesIdentification and Authentication: Determining if a gemstone is natural, synthetic, or an imitation, and identifying its origin. Grading and Valuation: Assessing gemstones based on the 4Cs (cut, clarity, color, carat weight) and providing appraisals for insurance or sales. Cutting and Polishing: Shaping and polishing rough stones to enhance their brilliance, color, and clarity using techniques like faceting. Jewelry Design and Crafting: Designing and creating jewelry, setting stones, and repairing existing pieces. Sales and Consultation: Advising clients, retailers, and designers on selecting and purchasing gemstones and jewelry. Required Skills and KnowledgeGemological Knowledge: Understanding of gemstone properties, crystal structures, and phenomena. Technical Proficiency: Skill in using specialized tools like microscopes, grading instruments, and processing equipment. Analytical and Detail-Oriented: Strong ability to examine gemstones and record detailed findings.
