The position

The Gender and Social Specialist shall be responsible for:
  • Designing and monitoring the gender and social safety standards, including temporary Involuntary resettlements within the project to ensure compliance with them.
  • S/he will provide technical backstopping to the PMU/PIU and oversee the gender & environment action plan and mainstreaming components.
  • Formulate project specific gender, environment and social safety guidelines/procedures.
  • Capacity building of the implementing partners related to gender mainstreaming and environment components.
  • Monitor and report grievances related to gender and social safeguards.
Handle complaints resolution for gender and social related matters received by the Grievance Redressal Committee (GRC).

Duty Station
The position is based in Islamabad and requires extensive travel to Gilgit-Baltistan.

The requirements

Education
Master’s degree or BS (16 years) in Sociology, Anthropology, or Gender Studies. Masters or BS (16 years) in Environmental Sciences as relevant education requirements in addition to social and anthropology degree.

Experience
At least 7 years of experience in projects, focused on Assessment and Management of Social, Environment and Gender impacts

Experience in working on gender mainstreaming (implementation of gender action plans) is an asset

Skills
  • Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of Environmental and Social (E&S) standards for internationally funded projects (AFD, World Bank, etc.),
  • Ability to listen, facilitate dialogue and resolve possible conflicts
  • stSong communication and teaching skills
  • Excellent interpersonal abilities.
  • Excellent report writing skills
