We are seeking a General Claims Adjuster, with a minimum of 5 years of experience, to provide superior service to our clients with a wide range of complex first and third-party transportation claims.
Summary
As a rapidly growing player in the insurance claims management space, Veritas Administrators is seeking an experienced and professional Claims Adjuster dedicated to excellent service. Primarily, this position is designed to handle claims spanning from complex high-severity transportation and property physical damage losses to routine scene inspections relating to first-party, third-party and general liability claims.
A sampling of claim variety may include auto physical damage, property, slip & fall, motor truck cargo, bodily injury, and more.
The right candidate will be able to manage a fast-paced work environment, communicate effectively and professionally with stakeholders, navigate a moderate to full caseload, collaborate with team members and leadership, and employ critical thinking/problem-solving skills with a sense of urgency. Success in this position will require an ability to demonstrate flexibility, openness and confidence when handling claims, including circumstances when the candidate possesses little or no prior experience as a subject matter expert.
The candidate should have experience with commercial transportation and personal and commercial property damage claims. Experience using Xactimate is preferred. Experience handling Cargo claims is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Thoroughly review, anticipate, and adhere to client instructions in a timely manner
- Fully and thoughtfully reviews insurance policies, endorsements and any other claim-related contracts to determine application or declination of coverage
- Employs investigative skills to determine facts and gather evidence
- Applies federal and state regulations, case law, logic and common sense in the determination of liability
- Proactively identifies, investigates and aggressively pursues subrogation opportunities
- Maintains awareness of legal principles and fair claims handling regulations
- Acquire recorded statements from insureds, claimants, and witnesses to determine facts
- Obtain necessary documentation from third parties and official agencies
- Review physical damage appraisals, and identifies errors and unsupported damage
- Investigate, evaluate and effectively negotiate settlement of bodily injury liability claims
- Works effectively with claims defense counsel and plaintiff attorneys
- Initiates or responds to arbitration and mediation when appropriate or necessary
- Create and maintain daily diary
- Prepare detailed formal summary reports documenting information gathered from the investigation
- Identify fraudulent claims and underwriting risks
- Adhere to “Best Practices”
- Make recommendations on disputed and high exposure claims.
- Conduct routine claim review with management and round table discussions
- Develop and maintain positive client relationships
- Utilize technology to assist and streamline claims investigations

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
- Minimum 5 year track record with experience as an adjuster handling claims within TPA and/or carrier organizations
- Skilled at interaction on many levels: adjuster, supervisor, management, customers, other constituents in the claims process
- At least 5 years liability claims adjusting experience-multi-line/multi-jurisdictional
- Intermediate level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
