Job Description: General Duty Assistant (GDA)
Department: Nursing / Patient Care / Diagnostics
Reports To: Centre Incharge
Location: 3H Clinics, First Floor, Sulochana Heights, Bangli-Bhabola road, Vasai (W)-401201
Employment Type: Full-Time
Job Summary:
The General Duty Assistant (GDA) supports nursing, medical, and laboratory teams by providing essential patient care services and assisting in clinical activities, including blood sample collection. The GDA ensures patient comfort, hygiene, and safety while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and infection control.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Patient Care Support
Assist patients with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, feeding, and mobility.
Help in shifting and transporting patients safely within the facility.
Maintain patient comfort, hygiene, and a clean environment.
Observe and promptly report any changes in patient condition to nursing staff.
2. Clinical and Diagnostic Support
Collect blood samples (venipuncture or capillary) as per training and under supervision of authorized personnel.
Label, document, and transport samples to the laboratory following proper protocols.
Assist nurses and doctors during procedures and patient care activities.
Ensure all medical instruments and equipment are properly cleaned and ready for use.
3. Hygiene & Safety
Maintain cleanliness and order in wards, patient rooms, and nursing stations.
Follow infection control and biomedical waste management protocols.
Ensure safe handling and sanitation of tools used in patient care and sample collection.
4. Administrative Assistance
Support in maintaining patient records, reports, and sample documentation.
Deliver samples, medicines, and reports within the hospital or clinic as required.
5. Communication & Conduct
Communicate courteously and professionally with patients, attendants, and colleagues.
Maintain patient confidentiality and ethical conduct at all times.
Provide emotional comfort and reassurance to patients during procedures such as blood collection.
Qualifications & Skills:
Certification:
General Duty Assistant (GDA) training or equivalent recognized certification.
Nursing or Patient Care Assistant training/certification from a recognized institute preferred.
Phlebotomy or Blood Collection training/certification is an added advantage.
Experience: 1–2 years of experience in patient care, nursing assistance, or diagnostic support (freshers with training may apply).
Skills:
Basic nursing and phlebotomy techniques.
Knowledge of infection control and sample handling.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively in a healthcare team and follow directions carefully.
