SUMMARY
The General Maintenance Engineer IV ("Ingeniero/a de Mantenimiento IV") position requires previous experience in the performance of hotel or similar facility maintenance tasks in the plumbing, electrical, and equipment repair and maintenance fields. Familiarity with small appliance repairs, plumbing fixture repairs, simple electrical troubleshooting and repairs is a must. Knowledge of environmental control in guest meeting spaces is required. Strong customer service skills are important. The ability to accurately maintain records of assigned tasks and follow up with engineering management to schedule and complete tasks is critical.

This position is directly responsible for the following: Completion of all assigned tasks in proficiency categories.
Completion of assigned preventive maintenance tasks.
Completion of assigned repair and maintenance work orders.
Inventories and procurement of parts and supplies.
Accident prevention and safety.
Energy conservation.
Neatness and cleanliness of the engineering shop and all areas under the direct control of the department.
Lead or otherwise facilitate the transfer of information regarding priorities, assignments, and problem solving at the various briefing sessions each day.
Fire Alarm/Life Safety System- to monitor systems as necessary, to be fully informed of the system operation and to handle emergencies involving
the systems. To have a working knowledge of fire sprinkler and emergency power systems.
Energy Conservation- to observe and analyze energy and utilities usage in the hotel and on the grounds. To look for ways to conserve energy and report any ideas to the Engineering Management.
Emergencies- to be available for any emergencies and act in an engineering capacity to protect our guests and associates and preserve the building and its systems during the emergency. To act as quickly and responsibly as possible to return the building to its normal operating status. To inform Engineering Management of any such emergencies.
Accident Prevention and Safety- to be aware of all existing Departmental Job Safety Analysis and to strive to work in an accident-free manner and to create a safe work environment for others. To continuously look for conditions which may endanger associates or guests of the hotel and to take immediate action to correct any hazardous conditions found.
Records- to read, log, track and interpret readings from meters, gauges, and other measuring units. To maintain a thorough log of each day’s activities and problems that occur and to ensure that this information is passed on to other shifts.
High school diploma or GED.
At least 2 years of relevant experience and/or training.
Previous similar position in a hotel, or similar business entity preferred.
Availability to work on weekends, holidays and day or night shift is required.
Ability to always maintain a friendly, professional, team-oriented, positive demeanor and diplomatic attitude, especially under stress or challenges.
Ability to stand, kneel, squat for prolonged periods of time, up to and including, the entire shift and lift up to 25 lbs.
Experience in dealing with the public is preferred.
Previous experience in plumbing, electrical, HVAC-R, and kitchen equipment preferred.
