General Maintenance Specialist

Shift: Day

Working Hours: Tuesday-Friday 7:00am-5:30pm and work as needed

Summary:
The General Maintenance Specialist is responsible for performing a variety of skilled tasks to maintain, repair, and ensure the safety and functionality of hospital facilities. This position requires specialized skills in one or more trades (e.g., electrical, plumbing, HVAC, powerhouse) backed by a valid license or certification. The specialist will be called upon to perform maintenance work in their area of expertise and provide general support across the facility as needed. This position requires periodic scheduled weekend and shift work to operate essential equipment and meet the hospital’s 24/7 operational needs.

Other information:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

• Valid certification or license in a specific trade (e.g., electrical, plumbing, HVAC) is required.

• Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in building/facility maintenance, with a focus on healthcare or large-scale facility management preferred.

• Strong knowledge of safety practices and regulations related to hospital settings.

• Ability to work independently or as part of a team, and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

• Excellent troubleshooting skills and attention to detail.

• Required to work scheduled hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as assigned.

• Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) is a plus.

• Knowledge, Skills & Abilities – familiar with safety procedures and trained in safe operation of building maintenance equipment and the handling of related chemicals, such as solvents/degreasers. Ability to troubleshoot and repair multiple building/facilities items including: electrical, plumbing, fan coil units, hospital beds and nurse call systems. Ability to provide detailed and accurate information on work orders/preventative maintenance forms.

This job will be authorized 80.00 hours bi-weekly.
