Duties and Responsibilities of a Maintenance Worker1. Preventive Maintenance
- Perform routine inspections of equipment, machinery, and building systems.
- Lubricate, clean, and service mechanical parts to prevent breakdowns.
- Replace worn-out components before they fail.
2. Repairs and Troubleshooting
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, or structural issues.
- Repair faulty equipment, fixtures, appliances, and machinery.
- Identify root causes of problems to prevent reoccurrence.
3. Facility Maintenance
- Maintain the building’s interior and exterior (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting).
- Ensure lighting, doors, windows, and safety systems are functional.
- Perform minor construction or renovation tasks when needed.
4. Equipment Operation and Maintenance
- Operate tools, machines, and maintenance equipment safely.
- Keep an updated log of maintenance activities and equipment status.
5. Safety and Compliance
- Follow all safety guidelines and use proper PPE.
- Conduct safety inspections and report hazards.
- Ensure maintenance tasks comply with building codes and regulations.
6. Inventory and Supplies Management
- Track tools, parts, and supplies.
- Request or purchase replacement materials when stock is low.
7. Work Order Management
- Respond promptly to work orders or maintenance requests.
- Prioritize tasks based on urgency.
- Document completed work accurately.
8. Collaboration and Communication
- Coordinate with supervisors, contractors, and other employees.
- Provide updates on maintenance activities and equipment conditions.
9. Emergency Response
- Address urgent maintenance issues such as leaks, power failures, or equipment breakdowns.
- Be available for on-call or after-hours emergencies (if required).
