This role is responsible for the profitability of all departments in the dealership, with a special focus on our Polaris and Kioti product lines. To achieve this, the GM must effectively manage all personnel and have strong knowledge and understanding of the agriculture and powersports markets. The GM will have an in-depth understanding of finances, strong customer relation skills, and the ability to lead the sales team in driving growth across Polaris, Kioti, and other product categories.
Roles and Responsibilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Responsibilities and duties of the General Manager will include the following:
Leadership & Business Management

Create the annual dealership budget by forecasting gross sales, operating expenses, and profit goals.

Maintain dealership profitability while controlling expenses and ensuring customer satisfaction.

Work in conjunction with the Midwest VP to monitor locational inventory levels and equipment movement.

Ensure excellent communication and cooperation between all departments.

Guide and direct department managers and personnel; interview and hire new employees as needed.

Pay close attention to day-to-day operations, recommending improvements when necessary.
Sales & Customer Experience

Develop a deep understanding of the Polaris and Kioti product portfolios in addition to traditional ag equipment.

Collaborate with the sales team to plan and implement objectives for achieving revenue and gross profit targets.

Emphasize product features based on analyses of customer needs and technical product knowledge.

Promote team selling across all brands, fostering collaboration between sales, service, and parts departments.

Ensure prompt responses to customer inquiries, follow-up on leads, and coordinate product demonstrations.

Build strong customer relationships, balancing personal rapport with professional service.

Focus on any customer complaints that need escalation, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.
Marketing & Operations

Make recommendations on advertising, sales promotions, staffing needs, lease promotions, and compensation plans.

Oversee inventory turnover, including both new and used equipment, with attention to Polaris and Kioti units.

Ensure the dealership lot, buildings, and grounds are kept to company standards and equipment is displayed professionally.

Direct accuracy of equipment listings, postings, and pricing consistent with company policy.
Training & Development

Support product training for staff to ensure knowledge of Polaris, Kioti, and competitor products.

Uphold the company mission statement and core values while creating a learning culture.

Foster legendary customer service and a team-oriented environment.

High School Diploma or GED required.

Experience in agriculture, heavy equipment, or powersports (Polaris/UTV/ATV sales experience highly valued).

Proven ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with co-workers, vendors, and customers.

Professional skills in managing difficult customer situations.

Computer proficiency with Microsoft platform; familiarity with equipment sales systems preferred.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to collaborate across departments.

Strategic and analytical thinker with proven experience driving growth.

Familiarity with financial statements, data analysis, and reporting tools.
