POSITION OVERVIEW
The General Manager is a
hands-on, working leadership role that combines field operations, technical expertise, customer relationship management, and business development. This position requires someone who can wear work boots and a hard hat one hour, then meet with facility directors the next. You will lead our field operations while personally handling complex installations, maintaining critical vendor relationships, and driving revenue growth. This is not a desk job—expect to spend 60-70% of your time in the field doing the technical work that made this company successful.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIESField Operations & Technical Work
- Personally perform complex refrigeration system installations, repairs, and troubleshooting

Lead installation projects from quote through completion, ensuring quality standards

Respond to emergency service calls, particularly for casino and healthcare clients (24/7 availability required)

Diagnose and repair commercial ice machines
- Perform preventive maintenance on large-format ice production equipment (4,000-10,000 lb/day machines)

Train and mentor field technicians on proper installation techniques and troubleshooting procedures

Ensure all work meets manufacturer specifications and warranty requirements
Customer Relationship Management-
Maintain and deepen relationships with major accounts
- Serve as primary point of contact for Tier 1 customers and facility directors

Conduct on-site meetings with decision-makers at customer facilities

Respond to customer inquiries with the personal touch that defines our service philosophy

Handle customer escalations and service recovery situations

Build long-term partnerships based on trust, reliability, and technical expertise
Vendor & Manufacturer Relations-
Maintain relationships with distributors

Coordinate with manufacturers on warranty service, technical support, and product training

Attend manufacturer training programs and industry trade shows
-
Manage equipment ordering, stock requirements, and distributor obligations
Business Development & Sales-
Generate quotes for equipment sales, installations, and service contracts

Identify and pursue new business opportunities within existing customer base

Develop preventive maintenance contract proposals and convert reactive customers to proactive plans

Grow equipment rental program and identify lease-to-own opportunities

Represent company at industry events and networking functions
Team Leadership & Operations-
Supervise and coordinate field technicians (currently 1 full-time, plus part-time support staff)

Schedule and dispatch service calls, prioritizing emergency response and customer commitments

Ensure proper inventory management of truck stock, parts, and equipment

Maintain service vehicles and equipment in good working condition

Oversee safety compliance and proper use of tools, torches, vacuum pumps, and specialized equipment

Foster a culture of service excellence and customer-first mentality
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSLicensing & Certifications-
Valid Nevada Driver's License (clean driving record)

EPA Section 608 Universal Certification (required)

Nevada C-21 Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Contractor License OR ability to obtain Qualified Employee (QE) status within 90 days of hire

Must be able to serve as Qualified Employee (QE) on contractor's license
Experience & Technical Skills-
Minimum 7-10 years of commercial refrigeration experience

Proven expertise in large-format ice machine installation and service
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills across multiple refrigeration systems

Experience with water-cooled, air-cooled, and remote refrigeration configurations
-
Knowledge of electrical systems, plumbing, and HVAC principles

Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and blueprints
-
Experience with commercial kitchen equipment and food service refrigeration
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS-
Experience with preventive maintenance contract management

Familiarity with government contracting and procurement processes

Current C-21 Contractor License with QE status
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS-
Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs regularly; up to 100+ lbs occasionally with assistance

Comfortable working in extreme temperatures (freezers, rooftops in summer heat, mechanical rooms)

Capable of climbing ladders, working at heights, and accessing confined spaces

Willingness to crawl, kneel, bend, and work in awkward positions

On-call rotation for emergency service (nights, weekends, holidays)

Valid driver's license and ability to operate company vehicles (F-250 service trucks with lift gates)

Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, torches, gauges, and diagnostic equipment
