Job Description:
The General Manager (Civil Engineering) will oversee all civil engineering operations within the organization, including planning, budgeting, project management, personnel management, and compliance. The GM will ensure that all civil engineering projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage civil engineering projects from concept to completion.
- Supervise and coordinate the work of project managers, engineers, and other site staff.
- Develop and implement strategic plans for civil engineering and construction activities.
- Oversee budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation for multiple projects.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations, safety standards, and environmental laws.
- Liaise with clients, government authorities, consultants, and contractors.
- Manage procurement of materials, equipment, and labor.
- Prepare progress reports, technical documentation, and risk assessments.
- Ensure quality assurance and quality control across all civil works.
- Drive innovation and best practices in construction methodologies and technologies.
- Lead recruitment, training, and development of the civil engineering team.
- Resolve technical issues and provide expert guidance on design and construction matters.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (Master’s or MBA preferred).
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent (preferred or required depending on location).
- 10+ years of progressive experience in civil engineering and construction management.
- Proven experience in a leadership or general management role in large-scale infrastructure or building projects.
- Strong knowledge of civil engineering standards, codes, and best practices.
- Proficiency in project management tools and engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, Primavera, MS Project).
- Excellent organizational, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
