The General Manager – Manufacturing & Industrial Engineering is responsible for leading the complete setup, commissioning, and operational readiness of a new automotive manufacturing plant. This role oversees greenfield and brownfield project execution, engineering strategy, production line development, capacity planning, industrial engineering systems, and cross-functional coordination to ensure seamless ramp-up and world‑class manufacturing performance.

Key Responsibilities


• Lead the end-to-end establishment of a new automotive manufacturing facility including Weld, Paint, Assembly, Utilities, and supporting shops.

• Develop master plant layout, material flow strategy, and process engineering standards.

• Oversee CAPEX planning, budgeting, vendor evaluation, and equipment procurement for all manufacturing systems.

• Ensure complete engineering readiness including civil works, utilities, machinery installation, commissioning, and trial production.

• Lead takt time planning, manpower planning, and line balancing for full-volume production.

• Introduce automation solutions including robots, conveyors, AGVs, and digitization tools to improve efficiency.

• Establish Industrial Engineering systems, SOPs, WI, PFMEA, Control Plans, and quality assurance standards.

• Drive production capacity enhancement initiatives and remove bottlenecks across manufacturing processes.

• Ensure HSE, ISO, and regulatory compliance across all engineering and production operations.

• Lead cross‑functional alignment with Production, Quality, Supply Chain, Finance, and HR for smooth plant launch.

• Manage engineering teams, develop competencies, and drive a culture of continuous improvement.

• Monitor KPIs including JPH, OEE, downtime, takt achievement, quality performance, and cost targets.

KPI Targets

• On‑time plant commissioning and start of production.

• Achievement of planned JPH and manufacturing capacity.

• Adherence to budget and CAPEX optimization targets.
