A fast-growing cutlery retailer and e-commerce company with two Knoxville brick-and-mortar stores, two websites, and active marketplaces on Amazon, eBay, Walmart, and more. The Role
We are seeking a General Manager with a wide spectrum of experience to oversee daily operations across both physical stores and online channels. This is not a typical retail manager role — you will be leading a complex, multi-channel business that blends retail, e-commerce, marketplace management, IT oversight, marketing, and team leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
- Manage and motivate staff across stores and e-commerce operations.
- Oversee hiring, scheduling, training, and performance reviews.
- Maintain a positive culture while ensuring accountability.
Multi-Channel Operations
- Oversee sales across brick-and-mortar, websites, and marketplaces (Amazon, eBay, Walmart and other marketplaces).
- Ensure product listings, pricing, and promotions are accurate and competitive.
- Maintain marketplace compliance and prevent account suspensions.
Business & Financial Management
- Drive revenue growth and gross margin improvement.
- Monitor P&L levers (labor %, COGS, shrink, fulfillment accuracy).
- Collaborate with vendors and marketing partners.
- Exploring new opportunities
- Oversee inventory ordering and replenishment across stores, websites, and marketplaces — ensuring the right mix of stock, proper forecasting, and timely vendor orders. Ordering and vendor negotiations.
Marketing & IT Oversight
- Coordinate digital marketing campaigns, promotions, and community events.
- Work with IT to ensure websites and POS systems run smoothly.
- Provide insights into SEO, digital advertising, and customer engagement.
Customer Experience & Brand Building
- Maintain high standards for customer service in-store and online.
- Organize local events, promotions, and partnerships to strengthen the brand.
What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years in retail or specialty store management, ideally with a strong multi-channel/e-commerce exposure.
- Experience managing teams of 6–12 employees or more.
- Knowledge of online marketplaces (Amazon/eBay/Walmart) and website operations.
- Business acumen: inventory control, sales reporting, and financial literacy.
- Strong organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong work ethic and commitment to accountability.
- Excellent communication skills — able to clearly convey expectations to staff, coordinate with vendors/partners, and engage customers.
- Passion for knives, cutlery, or outdoor gear is a plus.
Compensation
- Base Salary: $65,500–$81,500 (depending on experience).
- Performance Bonus: Up to 10–15% annually, paid quarterly, based on:
- Sales growth & gross margin
- Marketplace health & order fulfillment accuracy
- Employee retention & team performance
