The General Manager is responsible for overseeing the overall operations, project execution, business growth, and profitability of the construction division. The GM ensures timely completion of projects, adherence to quality and safety standards, optimal resource utilization, client satisfaction, and effective team leadership.
Key Responsibilities
A. Strategic & Operational Leadership
- Develop and execute strategic plans aligned with company objectives.
- Oversee operations across multiple construction sites.
- Improve operational efficiency through robust processes and systems.
- Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and business planning activities.
B. Project Management & Execution
- Review project progress, site performance, timelines, and risk factors.
- Ensure projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and to required quality standards.
- Monitor contractor performance, subcontractor management, and material procurement.
- Implement project control mechanisms—cost control, planning, and scheduling.
C. Financial Management
- Manage P&L for the construction division.
- Approve project budgets, resource allocation, and cost optimization strategies.
- Review financial reports, cash flows, and MIS to ensure strong financial health.
D. Client & Stakeholder Management
- Maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, vendors, and government authorities.
- Participate in client meetings, contract negotiations, and project handovers.
- Ensure client satisfaction and address escalations promptly.
E. Compliance, Quality & Safety
- Ensure adherence to industry standards, statutory requirements, and company policies.
- Implement quality checks, audits, and continuous improvement programs.
- Promote safety culture and ensure compliance with HSE protocols.
F. Team Leadership Management
- Lead and mentor project managers, site engineers, and functional teams.
- Identify talent gaps, build organizational capability, and support recruitment.
- Conduct performance reviews and foster a culture of accountability and excellence.
G. Business Development
- Identify new project opportunities and support the tendering process.
- Evaluate feasibility studies, BOQs, contracts, and commercial proposals.
- Strengthen company positioning in the construction market.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering; Master’s degree (MBA/Construction Management) preferred.
- 15–25 years of experience in the construction industry with at least 5–10 years in a senior managerial role.
- Proven experience in managing high budgeted residential projects like villas and Apartments.
- Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, project planning, contracts, and compliance.
