Job Summary:
The General Manager – Sustainability & Social Investment is responsible for developing and leading the organization’s sustainability strategy and social investment initiatives. The role ensures alignment with ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) principles, drives long-term environmental and social impact, and integrates sustainability practices across all business operations, particularly within real estate developments and community engagement programs.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Sustainability Strategy & Leadership

Develop and implement the organization’s sustainability and ESG strategy.

Align sustainability goals with corporate objectives and national frameworks (e.g., Vision 2030).

Lead initiatives to embed sustainability across all projects and operations.
2. Environmental Sustainability

Oversee environmental programs including energy efficiency, water management, waste reduction, and carbon footprint initiatives.

Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and standards.

Drive green building practices and certifications (e.g., LEED or equivalent).
3. Social Investment & CSR

Develop and manage social investment and CSR programs aligned with community needs.

Build partnerships with non-profits, government entities, and community organizations.

Measure and report social impact and community engagement outcomes.
4. ESG Governance & Reporting

Establish ESG policies, frameworks, and governance structures.

Lead sustainability reporting (annual ESG reports, disclosures, and audits).

Ensure transparency and compliance with international standards (e.g., GRI, SASB).
5. Stakeholder Engagement

Engage with internal and external stakeholders to promote sustainability initiatives.

Represent the organization in sustainability forums and industry events.

Collaborate with development, operations, and commercial teams.
6. Integration with Real Estate Projects

Ensure sustainability principles are integrated into design, planning, and development phases.

Support sustainable urban development and smart city initiatives.

Advise on environmentally and socially responsible investments.
7. Performance Monitoring & Innovation

Define KPIs and track sustainability performance metrics.

Identify opportunities for innovation in sustainability practices and technologies.

Continuously improve processes and impact outcomes.
8. Team Leadership

Build and lead sustainability and CSR teams.

Develop internal awareness and training programs.

Foster a culture of sustainability across the organization.
Qualifications & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Engineering, Business, or related field (Master’s preferred).

15+ years of experience in sustainability, ESG, or CSR roles.

Minimum 5+ years in a leadership or managerial role.
-
Experience within real estate, infrastructure, or large-scale development projects is highly preferred.
