mso-ansi-language:EN-US;mso-fareast-language:EN-US;mso-bidi-language:AR-SA">The General Maritime Outside Machinist Supervisor is responsible for all general maritime outside machinist assigned to his/her team. These teams focus primarily on nonmilitary vessels such as commercial tugs, off shore supply, research and privately owned vessels. Monitoring team members, organizing workflows, and providing recommendations for improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures, and working conditions is key to this supervisor’s success. This supervisor works closely with the project management team in the supervision, coordination and completion of contracted items such as, removal and installation of main propulsion shafting/waterjet systems and associated components, main reduction gears, rudders, bow thrusters, Z-Drives, diesel engines, generators, various pumps and associated components, air compressors, system coolers/heat exchangers, valves and associated operators, deck equipment such as winches, sliding padeyes, and anchor windlass.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Set daily/weekly/monthly objectives and communicate them to team members.
Organize workflow by assigning responsibilities and preparing schedules.
Supervise all assigned team members in their daily assigned duties.
Completion of team member annual performance evaluations utilizing the appropriate skills matrix.
Making requests and providing input to the department manager on the hiring of new team members. • Balance quality, productivity, cost, safety, and morale to achieve positive results in all areas.
Provide the required support to ensure team members achieve their daily goals in production.
Monitor team performance measures and provide progress reports to the department manager.
Work to continuously improve in all areas as related to the Outside Machinist Craft.• Ensure the safe use of equipment and coordinate regular maintenance.
Check production output according to specifications.
Identify issues in efficiency and productivity and suggest improvements.
Initiates/provided information for material and equipment condition found reports. • Track absenteeism and timekeeping.
Ensure staff follows company policies and procedures.
Inspect the work of team members and monitor work habits.
Document, address, and resolve employee relations issues.
Respond quickly and practically to emergencies, crises, or unexpected problems.
Report ongoing issues or problems to department manager.
Report team development and activities to the department manager.
Other duties as assigned, including special projects.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- Minimum High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum 5-year Ship Repair Outside Machinist Supervisory experience

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $73778 - $125422
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
