About Kare Center Kare Center is a multi-service healthcare practice built around a simple idea: patients deserve better than 15-minute appointments, fragmented records, and a different provider every visit. We deliver walk-in urgent care, continuity-based primary care, and a growing menu of complementary health services — all under one roof, all coordinated, all designed around the patient experience. Our clinical team is small, sharp, and supported by modern tools that let providers focus on patients instead of paperwork.
The Role We're hiring a Nurse Practitioner to work across our Urgent Care/Walk-In and Primary Care services. You'll move between scheduled primary care patients — where you'll build a longitudinal panel and manage chronic conditions over time — and walk-in urgent care visits, where you'll handle the full acute-care spectrum from minor injuries to higher-acuity presentations that need rapid evaluation, stabilization, or transfer.
This is a great fit for an NP who likes variety, thinks fast on their feet, and wants real autonomy in a practice that respects clinical judgment. You'll work at the top of your license, with strong MA and front-office support, modern point-of-care diagnostics, and a leadership team that's actively building — not maintaining — the practice.
What You'll Do
Urgent Care / Walk-In
- Evaluate, diagnose, and treat acute illness and injury across all age groups, including respiratory infections, UTIs, GI complaints, dermatologic issues, allergic reactions, minor trauma, and musculoskeletal injuries
- Perform in-office procedures: laceration repair and suturing, incision and drainage, splinting, foreign body removal, wound care, joint aspiration, and similar urgent care procedures
- Order and interpret point-of-care diagnostics including rapid strep, flu, COVID, mono, UA, pregnancy, glucose, and EKG
- Order and interpret in-house or imaging-partner x-rays and labs
- Recognize high-acuity presentations and coordinate timely transfer to emergency care when warranted
- Provide clear discharge instructions, follow-up plans, and bridge care back to primary care when appropriate
Primary Care
- Serve as primary care provider for a panel of patients across the lifespan
- Conduct comprehensive wellness visits, annual physicals, and preventive screenings
- Diagnose and manage chronic conditions including hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, asthma, thyroid disorders, anxiety, and depression
- Prescribe and manage ongoing pharmacotherapy with attention to interactions, adherence, and cost
- Provide women's health services including well-woman exams, contraceptive counseling, and routine screenings
- Counsel patients on lifestyle modification, nutrition, mental health, and chronic disease self-management
- Coordinate specialist referrals and follow through on continuity of care
Across Both Settings
- Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant EMR documentation
- Collaborate with physicians, fellow NPs, MAs, and front-office staff as part of an integrated care team
- Participate in case reviews, peer consultation, and clinical quality improvement
- Contribute to protocol development and operational refinement as the practice grows
- Maintain clinical competency through ongoing CE and professional development
Required Qualifications
- MSN or DNP from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
- Active, unrestricted [State] RN and APRN licensure (or eligibility to obtain prior to start)
- National board certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-C or FNP-BC) — required given the across-the-lifespan scope of urgent care
- Current DEA registration (or eligibility to obtain prior to start)
- Active collaborative practice agreement, where required by state regulation
- BLS certification required; ACLS strongly preferred
- Demonstrated procedural competency: suturing, I&D, splinting, joint injection, wound care
- Comfort interpreting basic radiographs and EKGs
- Strong clinical judgment in acute and undifferentiated presentations
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a genuine bedside manner
- Comfort with modern EMR systems and a fast-paced clinical environment
Preferred / Bonus
- 2+ years of post-licensure NP experience in urgent care, emergency, or high-volume primary care
- Experience with point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS)
- Pediatric experience and comfort treating patients across all age groups
- Spanish or other language proficiency
- Experience precepting NP students or mentoring junior clinicians
- Comfort with telehealth visits and asynchronous patient communication
