We're Hiring: General Surgeon – Nauru Deployment

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled General Surgeon to lead surgical services at our healthcare facility in Nauru. This critical role involves performing a range of surgical procedures, overseeing junior medical staff, and contributing to surgical governance and patient safety in a resource-limited setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform general and emergency surgical procedures with a high standard of care
• Provide clinical leadership and oversight to surgical and perioperative teams
• Supervise, mentor, and support junior surgeons and medical officers
• Ensure surgical protocols and infection control measures are followed
• Collaborate with anesthetists, nurses, and other health professionals to deliver integrated care
• Manage pre-operative assessments and post-operative follow-up
• Maintain comprehensive and accurate medical records
• Participate in on-call duties as required
• Support capacity building and training for local healthcare staff

Qualifications and Experience

• Medical degree and specialist qualification in surgery from a recognized institution
• Current medical registration with eligibility for licensing in host country
• Minimum 5-10 years of surgical experience, including leadership roles
• Proficiency in a broad range of general and emergency surgical procedures
• Excellent communication, leadership, and decision-making skills
• Prior experience in remote, rural, or resource-limited healthcare settings is highly desirable
