The Analog Garage: Located in the heart of downtown Boston, the Analog Garage is ADI’s Research and Advanced Development Center, empowering the company by pioneering breakthrough technologies. The Algorithmic Solutions Group (ASG) within the Analog Garage researches and develops cutting-edge, efficient algorithms to convert data into intelligence that addresses society’s
most pressing challenges. The team’s expertise spans fields such as machine learning, artificial intelligence, signal processing, computer vision, computational linguistics, communication systems, robotics, and other areas of electrical engineering, mechanical engineering and computer
science, creating solutions with real-world impact.

Job opportunity: The Algorithmic Solutions Group is seeking a motivated research intern for Summer 2026 to develop novel techniques for the automated generation of mechanical parts and flexures, adapted for robotic applications.
In this role, you will:
  • Create novel algorithms to automatically generate parts and flexures that both match performance requirements and meet design constraints.
  • Develop novel (or utilize existing) software simulations to analyze and evaluate the performance of your designs.
  • Propose hardware prototyping efforts to validate your designs.
  • Work with other researchers and engineers, inside and outside the ASG.
Qualifications:
  • Working towards a PhD in Mechanical Engineering with a target graduation year of either 2026 or 2027.
  • Successful completion of the following classes or their equivalents:
  • Mechanics of Materials
  • Mechanical Design
  • Optimization
  • Experience in the following fields:
  • Design of flexures
  • Generative mechanical design
  • Manufacturing processes
  • Strong publication record in top conferences and/or journals
