The Geo Technical Engineer (Laboratory) will be responsible for overseeing and executing all geotechnical and construction material testing activities within the laboratory. The role involves ensuring technical accuracy, maintaining laboratory standards, managing personnel, and supporting NABL accreditation requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct a wide range of soil tests, including Atterberg Limits, Proctor Compaction, California Bearing Ratio (CBR), grain size analysis, and moisture content.
- Perform testing on various building and construction materials such as aggregates, cement, concrete, and bitumen.
- Ensure the accuracy, reliability, and timely delivery of all laboratory test results.
- Prepare, review, and maintain comprehensive test reports and technical documentation.
- Manage daily laboratory operations, including equipment maintenance, calibration, and adherence to safety protocols.
- Coordinate with project teams, clients, and internal stakeholders regarding test requirements and deadlines.
- Maintain compliance with quality standards and ensure implementation of best practices in laboratory operations.
- Handle NABL-related activities, including documentation, internal audits, corrective actions, and certification renewals.
- Provide training, guidance, and performance oversight to laboratory technicians and support staff.
Required Skills & Competencies:
- Strong understanding of geotechnical engineering principles and laboratory practices.
- Hands-on experience with soil and construction material testing procedures and equipment.
- Good understanding of NABL standards, accreditation processes, and quality management systems.
- Proficiency in preparation, review, and interpretation of technical test reports.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining high levels of accuracy and quality.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering & Master’s Degree in Geo-Technical Engineering.
- 5+ years of relevant experience in geotechnical or construction material testing laboratories.
- Experience working in a NABL-compliant laboratory is preferred.
