Position summary:

This position will support the GIS platforms and associated applications, integrations, and databases. This includes assisting in application and database maintenance, application configuration, user administration, end-user training, business workflow analysis, and technical documentation management. This position also favors a thorough understanding of the electric and gas utility industry and GIS's role in adhering to its inherent regulations and operational needs.

Pay Range:

This posting includes the full pay range for this position. Pay is based on a number of factors and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity.

Level I: $66,950 - $100,500/12

Level II: $79,400 - $119,100/14

Reporting Relationship: GIS Supervisor of Applications & Integration

Location: May be located in Denver, CO; Fayetteville, AR; Council Bluffs, IA or Rapid City, SD

Essential Functions:
  • Work under direction of the GIS Manager of Applications & Integrations with guidance from the Analyst II to support the Esri and Smallworld GIS platforms and other related applications primarily used to manage electric and gas utility mapping and associated applications and workflows.
  • Support both Esri and Smallworld environments with system administration, user management, upgrades, integrations, and application configuration.
  • Support BHE GIS databases with the ability to perform at least one of the following tasks - schema changes, version management, SDE administration/tuning, or user access management.
  • Help support GIS’s digital as-built solution with backend needs including both Locusview integration and production posting.
  • Obtain feedback from end users in order to enhance application functionality and to evaluate training needs.
  • Perform GIS reporting and analysis.
  • Conduct GIS application trainings.
  • Work closely with IT Teams with a clear understanding of their policies and procedures such as separation of duties, etc.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Maintain professional relationships with vendors and contractors.
  • Maintain supportive and respectful working relationships with operations, IT support team and other business & system owners.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What Is Required:

Both levels:

  • Bachelor's Degree in geography or geographic information systems, CAD or computer science or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • This position requires driving responsibilities. You must hold and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record that meets company and insurer standards.
  • This role will be required to travel up to 10% of the time.
Level I

  • Minimum of two years of configuration and administration experience with the Esri and/or Smallworld platform stack.

Level II

  • Minimum of five years of configuration and administration experience with the Esri and/or Smallworld platform stack.

What Is Desired:
  • Strong functional knowledge of GIS and/or work and asset management systems.
  • Intimate knowledge of the latest Esri and Smallworld technologies and products, including, but not limited to ArcGIS Online/Enterprise, geodatabase constructs, mobile/GPS, and desktop applications.
  • Knowledge of relational database management (RDBMS) concepts.
  • In-depth knowledge of electric and gas utility business processes, operating standards and construction standards.
  • Working knowledge of the latest IT concepts, technologies and terminology.
  • Ability to assist in troubleshooting Esri and Smallworld platform errors.
  • Exceptional presentation, verbal and written communication skills.
  • End user support and training experience.
  • Effective project management, planning and scheduling skills, and understanding of customer value drivers.
  • Ability to accomplish complex project tasks in cooperation with other employees and multiple departments.
  • Ability to problem solve independently and work under time constraints and deadlines.
  • Ability to travel as required.
