Under the supervision of the Senior Director of Craft and Glass Center and with work direction from the Assistant Director of the Glass Center, the Glass Center Facilities Management Specialist coordinates the facilities operations of the Craft and Glass Center including maintenance, scheduling repairs, overseeing equipment installation and placing service calls ensuring adherence to established operational and safety procedures. In collaboration with the Assistant Director, the Facilities Management Specialist develops and monitors budgets related to equipment, manages inventory and procurement, and ensures cost-effective use of resources.
The position performs routine inspections to ensures all equipment, systems, and spaces support academic instruction, research, and creative activity. Responsibilities include developing and implementing preventive care plans, and recommending improvements that enhance efficiency, sustainability, and program quality while ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.
The position also provides work direction and trains student employees, promoting a culture of safety, collaboration, and technical excellence within the studio environment. The incumbent serves as a resource to student employees on established facility operational procedures and safety practices.
Knowledge of glass art studio practices and processes including glass blowing, hot casting, cold working, sandblasting, kiln-formed glass, stained glass, flame working and metal fabrication.
Experience in hot glass processes and experience in glass studio maintenance.
BFA or MFA in Glass or equivalent preferred.
Working knowledge of practices and procedures relating to facility maintenance.
Knowledge of general industry safety standards and practices.
Written communication skills to prepare a variety of correspondence, reports, policies and procedures, and training documents.
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written; ability to follow verbal and written instructions; ability to write clear and complete work reports and logs. Computer literacy required as well as accurate grammar and spelling.
Skills to work under pressure of deadlines in a stressful environment.
Skill and flexibility in organizing, establishing, and changing work priorities, often under the pressure of short deadlines.
Active listening, interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills to effectively resolve questions, concerns, issues or problems and ensure cooperative and productive working relationships.

Job offer is contingent upon satisfactory clearance based on Background Check results.
Normal work hours will be Wed 10:00 AM–6:30 PM, Thu 1:00–9:30 PM, Fri 11:00 AM–7:30 PM, Sat–Sun 10:00 AM–6:30 PM, but must be able to work a variable schedule to accommodate department needs. Ability to work weekends and evenings are required.
This position has been designated as a "mandated reporter" under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act ("CANRA"), which requires professionals to report known or suspected instances of child abuse or neglect to law enforcement.
Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $74,938 - $109,182 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $35.89 - $52.29
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
