DHL Same Day is DHL Global Forwarding’s global time critical & white glove service. With our flexibility of services meeting the emergency shipment needs of a wide range of industries, whether it’s the extensive database of aircraft parts we maintain for our Aircraft On Ground clients, or expediting mission-critical parts globally for our Semiconductor and Automotive clients, or the ability to meet time-critical temperature-sensitive needs unique to Life Sciences and clinical trial logistics, DHL Same Day gets the shipment there, when it has to be, for any business or organization.

Overall Role Purpose

§ Leads a 24/7/365 global operations team and defines input to and lead the implementation of functional strategy.
§ Engages proactively with customers and manage shipments against customer expectations in line with business strategy.
§ Ensures realization of transactional and physical Operations in line with customer requirements, taking corrective actions in case of deviations from customer requirements.
§ Ensures compliance with group business strategy and business environment, adhering to regulations and internal procedures.
§ Manages and drives performance of Operations teams to deliver maximum productivity and customer satisfaction.


Key Responsibilities

§ Formulates and drives global operations strategy in alignment with country-specific business needs and corporate guidelines.
§ Develops and sustains a scalable, efficient international operations network.
§ Leads large-scale projects and initiatives to deliver fast, reliable, and cost-effective solutions.
§ Directs and controls transactional and handling operations across regions.
§ Defines and enforces KPIs to ensure continuous improvement and operational excellence.
§ Benchmarks and embeds best-in-class infrastructure and practices across airfreight operations.
§ Uses performance tools and conducts regular team dialogues to monitor and enhance service levels.
§ Ensures compliance with global standards, local regulations, and internal procedures.
§ Sets and monitors implementation of compliance frameworks, specifications, and operational standards.
§ Develops supplier scorecards and best practice processes to drive continuous improvement.
§ Collaborates with sales and pricing teams to support key customer interactions, bids, RFQs, and presentations.
§ Engages proactively with customers to manage shipments and expectations in line with business strategy.
§ Defines and leads implementation process based on global guidelines.
§ Leads operations teams globally, setting clear objectives and driving performance to achieve budgetary targets.
§ Drives service and process improvement initiatives, including Same Day operations.
§ Evaluates synergies across DHL Group business units to enhance operational efficiency and service delivery.
§ Defines input to and leads the implementation of functional strategies across regions.
Role Requirements
§ 8+ years of solid and proven background in a transportation/freight forwarding leadership role.
§ Exceptional operations background with demonstrated success in process improvement, building and developing cross functional synergies and relationships, and managing a profitable and sustainable domestic and international network.
§ Prior project management successes that lead to increased productivity and cost savings.
§ Proven track record in people management role (leadership, motivation and people skills).
§ Demonstrates strong communication capabilities.
§ Easily capable of making well informed decisions.
