Job Description:
This role is part of the Schneider Electric Industrial Automation hub/cluster/country leadership Team. This position is responsible for determining, developing, and executing procurement strategies and plans to purchase 3rd party products and services for Schneider Electric Industrial Automation projects for respective hub/cluster/country. The position reports directly to the Director- Procurement. The General Manager - Procurement will lead a team of 6 professionals across India with responsibility for driving competitive supply and services strategies to achieve the best-landed costs aligned with the customer’s scope of work for projects.
Key Role Responsibilities
Procurement & Contract Strategy:

Develop and deploy an effective contracting and procurement strategy in line with the overall organization strategy.
- Take ownership of structuring, implementing, and controlling the contract and procurement activities in line with Schneider Electric Core Values.
- Coordinate with the other functions like delivery, legal, and finance for effective contract and purchase structuring from a legal and tax perspective.
Supply Chain Operations:

Understand the business opportunities along with the sales, presales, proposal, and delivery to align resale strategy to meet/exceed business profitable growth.
- Maintain a robust understanding of relevant suppliers in all categories inside & outside the country with a focus on cost drivers impacting vendor costing. Developing and maintaining vendor database, pre-qualification criteria, annual reviews of high-spend vendors, and other related activities.

Drive and implement SE PA standard processes and procedures consistent with Global standards processes and procedures meeting External/internal Audit requirements

Lead a team of project procurement buyers/Logistics/Wearhouse members to drive the meaningful purpose of the procurement function. Ensure appropriate goals, training, and development plans are in place for the entire team to deliver desired results.
- Manage the complete purchasing and contract administration activities and ensure suppliers comply with the regulatory and reputation requirements of the SE organization.
- Deploy benchmarking and cost modeling tools to enable competitive costs to win and drive margin improvements.

Familiarization with transactions in ERP systems especially SAP
Strategic Sourcing:

Influence project bid/proposal process by ensuring the best 3rd party strategy to give Schneider Electric a competitive cost position during customer pursuits.
- Ability to understand market trends, driving factors, and future adverse impacts on business and prepare mitigation plans for the same.
- Develop and implement strategies & processes that will enable regional/global spend leverage and competitive pricing, quality, delivery, and risk management with the supply base.

Provide holistic strategic review on spend/cost & value opportunity analysis to proactively integrate the potential value/cost reduction opportunities into a successful strategic sourcing plan.
Logistics & Warehousing:

Responsibility includes handling End-to-End Logistics functions including inwards, dispatches, freight forwarding, customs clearance/CHA, and local trucking for IG & External Vendors.
- Ensuring SCM activities are in accordance with SE trade compliance policies and procedures.
- Overall responsibility for Wearhouse including sales order inventory, Inventory counts, GRNs, packing & labelling, and handling RMA materials.

Represent SCM function for all Internal/External Trade Compliance Audits
Team Management:

Provide leadership & motivation to the team through timely goal setting, capabilities development, performance feedback, and career planning.
- Help recruit and retain competent and high-performing teams delivering on the functional goals and targets of the function.

Deliver a succession plan at each level within the function. Create a sense of strong ethics & ownership mindset within the team aligned with organization POR.
Financial Acumen:

Understanding of P&L and investment parameters like IRR/NPV and how procurement contributes to that.
Ability to read and understand company(vendor) balance sheet/financial statements including revenue/net worth.

Education and Experience
- Education – bachelor’s degree in engineering

Experience – Min. 14 years of experience in project procurement, 5 years in a leadership role managing large capital projects and employees, 5 years of experience in process automation, Engineering Procurement & Construction (EPC), or Large Oil & Gas industries

Preferred Qualifications – Six Sigma or Black Belt certification
