Golf Course Maintenance Laborer

Greenkeeper 1

The Greenkeeper is responsible for the upkeep of the golf course. Their duties include all horticultural practices, as well as the setting up of flagsticks and marking of hazards. Other responsibilities typically include raking bunkers, watering plants, repairing divots, trimming tee boxes and mowing the course.

Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

• Understanding and following the clock-in/clock-out policy.
• Understanding the maintenance building layout; to include location of tools and equipment.
• Understanding and performing washing of equipment, as well as fueling.
• Understanding of various locations on the golf course, to include: teeing grounds, putting greens, bunkers, fairways and intermediate areas.
• Raking bunkers manually as well as utilizing Sandpro machine.
• Utilizing maintenance tools such as: weed-eaters, shovels, backpack blowers, rakes and stick edgers.
• Utilizing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) gear at all times ensure employee safety.
• Familiarizing self with the game of golf as well as practicing professionalism with members.
• Becoming familiar and comfortable with crew members and working as a team player.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in landscaping or grounds maintenance is preferred but not required.
• Basic knowledge of plants, trees, flowers, and lawn care.
• Ability to operate landscaping tools and equipment (training may be provided).
• Good physical stamina and the ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently and safely.
• Ability to follow directions and work independently or as part of a team.
• Strong work ethic and reliability.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to bend, kneel, and stand for extended periods of time.
• Comfortable working outdoors for long periods in various weather conditions.
• Must be able to operate lawn care equipment (training will be provided if necessary).

Additional Information:

• The position may require occasional weekend or evening work, especially during peak seasons or special events.
• A passion for outdoor work and maintaining beautiful landscapes is highly desirable.
• Uniforms and safety gear will be provided.
• Overtime may be available.
• Pay: $17/hour.
