Golf Course Operations Manager

This is responsible supervisory and administrative work organizing, coordinating, and directing the day-to-day management of clubhouse operations for the City’s Municipal Golf Courses. Work involves supervision of skilled and semi-skilled employees, including their selection, placement, training, safety, appraisal and discipline; budget preparation and administration; coordination of golf tournaments and leagues; assisting in the recommendation and development of personnel and operational policies and procedures; creating and promoting programs for developing new and existing golfers; provision individual and group instructions on a private fee basis; and collaborating with golf courses superintendent on quality of ongoing maintenance and repair activities affecting course playing conditions.

Salary: $77,764 - $122,489 DOQ

To Qualify


Minimum Qualifications.
Applicants must:

  • Have a valid Bachelor’s degree or possess a valid high school diploma or GED equivalency combined with experience and training.
  • Possess and maintain a valid Driver License.
  • Possess a PGA Class A Certification.
  • Have considerable progressive work experience in golf shop and clubhouse operations as a head golf professional or course manager.
  • Be proficient in the use of a computer to efficiently create and maintain records, conduct research, perform database entry, and prepare correspondence and email communication.
  • Be able to effectively supervise and train assigned employees and enforce regulations, polices and safety practices with firmness, tact, and impartiality.
  • Be able to communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing.
  • Acknowledge this position is designated as Emergency Critical (EC) and if hired into the position, an applicant must be immediately available to the department before, during, and after a declared emergency and/or disaster.

Desirable Qualifications. Preferred applicants:

  • Have considerable experience successfully managing public interaction and complaint response.
  • Have some experience with managing and performing emergency response duties.
