Title: Google Workspace Engineer
Bengaluru, Karnataka

As our Google Workspace Engineer, you will play a critical hands-on role in the strategy, administration, and daily operations of our Google Workspace and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) environments. You will be responsible for day-to-day administration, monitoring, troubleshooting, and automation of our productivity and collaboration platforms, along with supporting key GCP services where they integrate with Workspace and Gemini. You will also partner with business and technical teams to plan new initiatives and help mature our use of Google Workspace (Gmail, Calendar, Drive, etc.), with a strong focus on leveraging AI and LLM capabilities.

Roles and Responsibilities
Engineering & Strategy
    Provide subject matter expertise in Google Workspace solutions, leading the technical aspects of engineering, maintenance, and management of the productivity suite.
    Perform hands-on design, configuration, and troubleshooting of Google Workspace, including data migrations, Active Directory/IAM integration, and user/support training.
    Lead and facilitate the enterprise rollout of custom solutions that integrate Workspace functionality and enhance work productivity.
    Collaborate with Google product managers, support, and vendor teams to evaluate, test, and recommend new Google Workspace features and enhancements.
    Automate and streamline Workspace administration tasks using tools like Google Apps Script, GAM, or other scripting languages.
    Support cloud initiatives by contributing to GCP-related requirements, integrations, and foundational configurations where Workspace and Gemini intersect with broader Google Cloud services.
Operations & Management
    Manage and administer the Google (EMM) environment, enterprise Mobile App Store, device enrollments, and resolve complex mobile OS-specific issues.
    Take ownership of the overall Google Workspace account management process, developing new system processes for efficient account lifecycle management integrated with enterprise IAM.
    Oversee email retention activities to comply with legal records retention policies.
    Periodically analyze trouble tickets to identify trends and gaps; create, document, and implement new solutions and train global support staff.
Collaboration & Support
    Act as a trusted advisor to ensure the implementation and usage of the Google Workspace platform efficiently and effectively meets company needs.
    Partner with IT Security & Audit teams to enforce and monitor strict cross-platform security and audit controls.
    Collaborate with technical and functional teams to create and maintain clear documentation for business rules, system operating procedures, and support guides.
    Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external partners to maximize the usage, performance, and stability of the collaboration platforms.
Qualifications
    5+ years of hands-on experience deploying and administering Google Workspace in an enterprise environment.
    Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
    Strong expertise in email infrastructure, mail transfer/access protocols (SMTP/IMAP/POP), and email security (SPF, DKIM, DMARC, spam/phishing protection).
    Strong experience in administering and configuring Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM) and endpoint management platforms, including policy enforcement, device lifecycle management, and security controls.
    Demonstrable experience with automation and scripting (e.g., Google Apps Script, GAM, Python, or PowerShell).
    Working knowledge of broader GCP architecture and security practices, including hands-on experience with AI/LLM services, service account automation, and application integrations across Google Cloud.
    Familiarity with leveraging AI and LLM tools and features within the Google Workspace ecosystem.
    Proven ability to create high-quality design documents, system operating procedures, and technical FAQs.
    A self-starter with excellent time management skills, able to manage multiple activities simultaneously with minimal oversight.
    Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills and a collaborative team-oriented attitude.
    A solid understanding of the relationship between company policies, business processes, and technical procedures.
