Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Government Bid Writer to develop compelling, compliant, and competitive proposals in response to federal, state, and local government solicitations. This role is responsible for managing the full proposal lifecycle—from opportunity identification and analysis to submission—ensuring alignment with client requirements and organizational capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze RFPs, RFQs, RFIs, and other government solicitation documents to determine requirements, scope, and evaluation criteria.
  • Lead and coordinate proposal development efforts, including timelines, content planning, and submission strategy.
  • Write, edit, and proofread high-quality, persuasive proposal content tailored to government agencies.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts, technical teams, pricing teams, and leadership to gather necessary inputs.
  • Ensure all proposals are compliant with solicitation requirements, formatting rules, and submission guidelines.
  • Develop and maintain proposal templates, boilerplate content, and a content library for reuse.
  • Conduct competitor and market research to strengthen proposal positioning.
  • Manage multiple proposals simultaneously under tight deadlines.
  • Participate in post-submission debriefs and incorporate feedback into future proposals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Business, Public Administration, or a related field
  • 2–5+ years of experience in government proposal writing, bid writing, or grant writing.
  • Strong understanding of government procurement processes and regulations (e.g., FAR for federal contracts).
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • High attention to detail and ability to ensure compliance with complex requirements.
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
