HOW YOU'LL HELP US KEEP CLIMBING (OVERVIEW & KEY RESPONSIBILITIES)

The Delta sustainability team believes that setting a bold vision and accelerating our work to deliver sustainable travel experiences and achieve net-zero emissions by 2050 isn't only good for our planet, it's a business imperative for Delta's long-term success.


The Sustainable Skies Lab serves as an innovation hub aimed at testing, certifying and scaling technology required to decarbonize aviation. The Lab’s Graduate Intern will have the opportunity to gain experience in sustainability by working cross-functionally on projects related to innovation and collaboration in pursuit of a more sustainable future.


The Sustainability Intern will work on-site at Delta's World Headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia.


Primary Functions:

  • Support efforts related to execution of Delta’s Sustainability strategy working with our Sustainable Skies Lab
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, regulations, and emerging technologies related to sustainability, in support of sourcing and evaluating potential future partners, based on strategic fit and innovation potential
  • Project manage collaborations with existing Lab portfolio partners, ensuring alignment with Lab goals, timelines and deliverables
  • Prepare and present reports on sustainability initiatives, progress, and outcomes to stakeholders and management
  • Act as an advocate for sustainability, raising awareness and promoting sustainable practices both internally and externally

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED (MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS)

  • Currently enrolled in a master’s program at an accredited institution, preferably with a focus on sustainability or business
  • Proactive and able to work independently
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to analyze data, collect information, and utilize tools for data analysis
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, critical thinking, multi-tasking, and time management skills
  • Able to commit to the duration of the internship timeline: June through August
  • Consistently prioritizes safety and security of self, others, and personal data.
  • Embraces a diverse set of people, thinking and styles.
  • Possesses a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency.
  • Is at least 18 years of age and has authorization to work in the United States.

    WHAT WILL GIVE YOU A COMPETITIVE EDGE (PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS)



    • Academic background or experience in climate action, data science, environmental studies and/or sustainability
    • Experience in project management, consulting, and/or partnership development
    • Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau or PowerBI
    • Passion for sustainability and a commitment to promoting environmentally responsible practices
