Position Overview
The Grants and Contracts Manager will oversee and manage government and philanthropic grants and contracts for a high-volume nonprofit. This role ensures financial accuracy, compliance, and operational efficiency while partnering with project managers and principal investigators. The position also supports audit preparation, subcontracting agreements, and reporting to help the organization meet its mission of improving water quality and ecosystem health.

Responsibilities

Review, implement, and manage government and philanthropic grants and contracts, including legal and compliance considerations

Work with project managers on accounting, reconciliation, and problem-solving for grants and contracts

Oversee subcontracting agreements and collaborate with external partners

Supervise contracts staff and support professional development

Participate in annual audits and prepare reports for internal and external stakeholders

Develop and maintain efficient systems for workflow and financial tracking
Qualifications

Proven experience managing grants and contracts in a nonprofit or government-funded environment

Strong financial acumen, including project-level accounting and reporting

Ability to interpret contractual language and provide guidance to staff and leadership

Experience supervising and mentoring team members

Strong collaboration, organizational, and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment
