Job Summary:
The HR and Housing Manager oversees daily operations of employee housing, ensuring fair room assignments, policy compliance, and positive living conditions for all residents. This role supports housing staff and managers in maintaining consistent documentation and discipline practices in alignment with company policy, legal requirements, and National Park Service standards while fostering a strong sense of community within employee residences.

Position Type: Seasonal
Season Dates: April 21st - October 21st
Pay: $978.00/weekly
Schedule: Typical schedule is 40 hours, 5 days per week (may include weekends, evenings, and holidays)

Responsibilities:
  • Provide leadership, training, and guidance to managers and housing teams to ensure consistent employee documentation, discipline practices, and adherence to company policies, State and Federal laws, and National Park Service standards.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to employees and management by addressing personnel issues with discretion and professionalism, mediating concerns, and facilitating access to appropriate support resources.
  • Conduct and oversee investigations into sensitive matters such as harassment, discrimination, and workplace misconduct, ensuring thorough, timely, and legally compliant outcomes.
  • Partner with management teams to implement effective HR practices related to recruitment, onboarding, training, performance management, and terminations, ensuring fair and consistent application across all operations.
  • Track, analyze, and report on staffing trends, retention metrics, and turnover to identify areas for improvement and support proactive workforce planning.
  • Foster strong collaboration with Operations, HR, Housing, and NPS partners to maintain open communication, resolve complex employee issues, and align practices with park-wide goals and standards.
  • Support employee engagement through reward and recognition programs, ongoing training, and continual process improvements that enhance workplace culture, compliance, and overall employee experience.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of three years HR experience required or three years prior management experience with Xanterra
  • Possession of valid drivers license and safe driving history required.
  • Demonstrated skill in the areas of leadership, decision making, delegation, time management, problem solving, organizational and interpersonal communication.
  • Excellent follow-up skills with ability to shift priorities and restructure time and energies to perform in an optimal capacity. Make sound judgment both independently or collaboratively.
  • HR Certification preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to persuasively and professionally guide and motivate others and to effectively communicate complex information to a wide variety of audiences.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Physical Requirements include:
  • Able to walk through location housing facilities, including climbing stairs, on a daily basis.
  • Able to walk from HR office to offices of other location department managers on a daily basis.
  • Able to remain seated for periods of 30-120 minutes or longer.
  • Able to walk and/or stand a minimum of 30 minutes at a time.
  • Able to walk up to one mile continuously.
  • Able to walk on uneven terrain, including icy and snow-covered areas.
