JOB SUMMARY:

The Grants Manager is a member of Housing Forward’s Development Team, which creates, implements, and manages an annual grant strategy to achieve budgeted funding goals from public, private foundation, and corporate funding sources. The Grants Manager is responsible for conducting the full range of activities required to research, prepare, submit and manage grant proposals to public funding sources, private foundations, and corporations. The Grants Manager is a member of the Development Team and is supervised by the Director of Development.

Essential Functions :

  • Write and submit grant applications and proposals, budgets, and other required submission materials reports in a timely manner. Conduct post-submission follow-up.
  • Create and maintain an annual grant calendar based on grant strategy. Manage all grant submission funding sources.
  • Collaborate with the Communications, System Performance, and Development Teams to maintain an up-to-date library of grant submission materials, including proposal templates.
  • for each program and service focus, a variety of agency information, commonly requested attachments, program data (service data, program descriptions and outcomes, client demographics, etc), and program budgets.
  • Support the cultivation and stewardship of all current and prospective funders. Invite, plan, organize, and staff site visits and stewardship meetings with funders and prospects as appropriate.
  • Conduct prospecting research to identify relevant funding opportunities from public sources, private foundations, and corporations. Maintain a growing database of funding prospects.
  • Participate in ongoing communication with the Grants Compliance Team to share key deadlines, award amounts, and reporting metrics.
  • Attend monthly Grants Team meetings with the executive team to determine funding gaps, identify priorities for prospecting, and establish objectives for upcoming applications. Maintain ongoing communication with all department directors and managers to ensure a detailed understanding of program needs and emerging funding opportunities.
  • Support fundraising events and submit sponsorship requests as needed.
  • Other Tasks as assigned.
Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in arts or relevant working experience of 2-3 years in public and private foundation grants. Experience in homelessness services or human services arenas is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to influence, persuade and build a case for support required.
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office and SharePoint. Experience with Salesforce preferred.
  • Ability to attend some evening and weekend events.
  • Must have a smartphone to utilize agency communication and collaboration tools.
  • Reliable transportation, valid driver's license and proof of insurance.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Position requires frequent and regular computer and phone use.
  • Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to drive a vehicle, stand; walk; sit; use stairs; reach with hands and arms; balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
