Graphic Designer

Long Beach, United States

Description of The Commune Graphic Designer Role

Commune’s Graphic Designer is primarily responsible for the creation and development of high level creative advertising ideas, with a particular focus on the execution and measuring success against creative briefs. The disciplines and output ideas can exist in many formats from graphic design, mixed media and video and print advertisements, to TV commercials, cinema, radio, experiential, Direct Marketing UX/UI mobile applications, websites and more.

Commune’s ideal candidate combines their experience, creative pedigree and their imagination across competencies including design and production to create work that delivers at a high level and also delivers on both brand strategies and briefs.

Commune’s Graphic Designer will know how to make brands sound human and develop ideas for audiences of real people. You should have a sense of humor rooted in cultural awareness and be able to hang in a room with industry veterans. You take criticism well, know when to push back, and make edits quickly.

Though we’re predominantly a remote company, you must be local(ish) and able to adapt to attend in person meetings and adventures when required.

Things we need from the Commune Graphic Designer role:

  • Partner with creative directors, web designers and brand strategists to improve upon ideas and actively participate in making them come to life.
  • Communicate often with your Account manager to ensure projects get done on time and meet the various brand standards as dictated by our clients
  • Effortlessly transpose your ideas across the many facets of well-rounded campaigns, including digital placements, video and audio scripts, event materials and activations, print, experiential, web and more.
  • Participate in regular status meetings with internal creative stakeholders and communicate directly with our clients.
  • Work closely with media partners to stay up to date on evolving placement types and technologies to ensure Commune is exploring all placement ideas and opportunities.
  • Work with people as much as you work with tools: Because of our team's size you will fill a function to motivate coaching and mentoring new, or junior talent in your team.
  • Be a leading source of insight on the latest design production techniques, tools and materials.
  • Aware of the basics of licensing, legal and regulatory background which must be adhered to in your work to guide both clients and your team.

Things we’d like for you to have done:

  • Graphic Design and production experience and a portfolio of work that we think is awesome, that contains cross discipline work. Be prepared to share your work when we chat.
