Job Description
- Designs and produces high-quality visual materials for digital, print, and multimedia platforms.
- Creates graphics, infographics, illustrations, presentations, animations, and assets for press kits, media events, conferences, exhibits, social media, and video productions.
- Translates complex scientific, technical, and policy information into clear, visually compelling designs.
- Ensures all visual products adhere to NSF branding and Section 508 accessibility standards (e.g., color contrast, alt text, accessible PDFs).
- Collaborates with researchers, writers, editors, and OLPA staff to ensure accuracy and clarity.
- Uses Adobe Creative Cloud and related tools to develop and optimize visual content.
- Provides technical and artistic guidance to NSF staff; supports special or surge initiatives.
Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Fine Arts, Digital Media, or a related field; or
- Equivalent professional experience.
Experience / Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of professional graphic design experience.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud (e.g., Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign; After Effects preferred).
- Experience producing accessible, federal-compliant visual products.
- Experience supporting science-focused or public-sector communications preferred.
