Graphic Designer

Position: Graphic Artist

Salary: $16.50/Hr.

Average Schedule: 25-35 hrs./wk. Some Saturdays may be required.

Basic Function: The basic function of this position is to create and produce artwork that will be used to print and embroider images on items and apparel. The Graphic Artist will work with salespersons, customers and production staff to design, edit and/or format artwork that will be used for screen printing, embroidery and custom cut vinyl. The Graphic Artist will also assist customers on the sales floor, in the art room and on the telephone with custom printed items and general retail items.

Requirements:

· Education: High School diploma or equivalent is required. Associate’s degree in graphic design or related subject preferred. Graphic Artist must be versed in Adobe Illustrator, Photo Shop and other graphics programs. Previous work experience is preferred but not required.

· Skills: Strong visual/spatial relations skills are necessary, as are creativity and imagination. Being prompt, dependable, honest, thorough, and tidy are also required. This employee must have good communication skills and be able to recognize and deal with priorities. Must be a team player.

· Working Conditions: Work is performed inside of a typical printing shop with low to moderate noise levels. The employee may need to negotiate congested aisles and work spaces – reasonable dexterity is required. Most of the work the Graphic Artist will perform will be on a computer. The Graphic Artist must interact with the print staff, sales persons and customers.

· Physical Demands: Body Positions: Standing/sitting for long periods. The job often involves stooping, kneeling and crouching. Body Movements: Use of arms, legs, hands, eyes and voice. The employee will, at times, be required to lift or move an object weighing up to 50 lbs. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to hear and speak on the telephone and use a computer. The physical demands are those typical to most office environments.
