Graphic Designer

We are seeking a full-time Graphic Designer who has strong experience in magazine and newspaper layout as well as advertising design. This role is ideal for a designer who enjoys working in a fast-paced publishing environment and takes pride in producing polished, professional print work.

The lead Graphic Designer will be responsible for the design and layout of our monthly magazine, including editorial pages and advertising. This role requires a designer who understands print publishing, typography, advertising strategy, and production deadlines. You will collaborate with our editorial, sales, and marketing teams to ensure the publication maintains a consistent, high-end visual style while meeting strict print deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and layout monthly magazine issues, including editorial spreads and feature pages
• Create professional advertising layouts for local business clients
• Collaborate with the sales team to design effective ads that meet client goals
• Maintain consistent visual branding across all publications
• Prepare print-ready files and ensure all layouts meet printer specifications
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting production deadlines
• Review and proof layouts for accuracy and visual quality
• Assist with special sections, sponsored features, and promotional materials as needed
• Manage photo assets, collect outsourced photography needed for publication, and to work on color corrections and image resizing as needed
• Work with the production team to layout out content, export proofs and make edits on all pages.
• Utilize Flatplan software and make sure all pages and ads are organized in the InDesign file correctly.
• Design company marketing collateral as needed like social media graphics, postcards, newsletters, etc.

Qualifications

• Strong magazine or newspaper layout experience
• Advanced proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator
• Deep understanding of print production, typography, and editorial layout
• Experience designing advertising for print publications
• Ability to work efficiently under monthly publishing deadlines
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Knowledge of prepress and print production workflows
• Ability to maintain a consistent visual style across an entire publication
