Graphic Designer

Summary

The Graphic Designer, under the direction of the Lead Graphic Designer, is responsible for creating graphic drawings, updating part descriptions and drawings levels in the Abba database. The designer will also be responsible for maintaining and upholding customer specifications. Additionally, the Graphic Designer may perform departmental administrative duties such as providing drawings prints, creating drawing and specification books, participate in creating both live and web presentations, assisting with research and project development

Essential Functions/Job Responsibilities

  • Create drawing packages of site plans and elevation renderings for permitting purposes.
  • Create graphic drawing used for manufacturing signs and channel letter sets.
  • Work with Engineering team and revise graphics following provided red lines.
  • Incorporate mechanical drawings with graphic drawings for sales purposes.
  • Keep a record of all customer specifications such as color samples, materials, prints, etc.
  • Update Part number descriptions and revision levels using ABBA system.
  • Learn ABBA and GIS system for researching product history and record tracking.
  • File all graphics, specifications, and e-mails in system for easy find and access.
  • Prioritize workload and set timeline to meet crucial deadlines.
  • Prints and/or converts graphic drawings to PDF format for sales and manufacturing.
  • Scan and/or manipulate photos or drawings using Corel 13, Adobe Photoshop, or Corel Photoprint.
  • Assist in research and development projects including light lifting and wiring using small hand tools.
  • Learn GIS, ABBA and filing system within the first 2 months.
  • Follow up and create drawings using GIS system.
  • Create a minimum of 6 graphics a day after training.
  • Learn sign related terminology.
  • Learn sign building from working in a shop and with an engineering team.
  • Read Mechanical drawing.
  • Learn production process from beginning to end.

Qualifications/Experience/Requirements

  • High School Graduate or Equivalent Minimum
  • 3-5 years of experience
  • Minimum 1000 hours experience with Corel and/or Adobe Illustrator.
  • Excellent written and communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of computers and word-processing/spreadsheet
  • Ability to lift and carry 50lbs or more.
  • Ability to sit still for a long period of time required to be truly productive.
